Decades , centuries , millennials … how long will we continue to lose the iconic Tiger (Panthera Tigris) which is one of the largest cat species in the Genus Panthera and in the world. The Tiger is a Carnivores apex Predator which means the Tiger is on top of the food chain having no predator that is hunting it so why is the tiger on the verge of extinction ? I always ask myself this question every day, every minute and unable to imagine how this world would be without the Tiger. Just imagine our future generation asking themselves what is a Tiger and how did they look like just gives me chills because there shouldn’t be a reason why the Tiger should go Extinct there are an estimate of 3,900 remaining in the wild according to World wild life and an estimate of 7.9 Billion people in the world according to the most recent united nations estimates elaborated by WorldMeter.

Humans are causing Tigers to become Extinct

From having 7.9 billion people in this world to having only an estimate of 3,900 Tigers the numbers do not add up ! That’s a huge difference in the population of humans compared to Tigers in the wild and as the days fly by not only does the population of the humans continue to increase rapidly but without even thinking about The Tigers future is sad . As this is happening the Tigers are running out of time and natural ecosystems for them to roam freely are becoming scarce.

Poaching, Illegal trade of tiger parts, loss of habitat, and human conflict.

Many of today’s tigers still live with the fear of being killed for their parts as illegal trade still continues overseas even though tighter laws have been made towards illegal animal trades but there are still many threats towards these endangered species one of them being humans as their main threat.

Deforestation is also one of their threats as they are running out of habitats yet again due to humans, developing of land to build more houses and businesses without ever thinking about the life to the Tiger or where would they go they just destroy and build. With limited habitats some of the tigers are desperate to find food and shelter causing human conflicts and encounters, therefore killing the tigers who come in contact.

Helping The Tiger Survive

Today is a new world, a new day , a new beginning and a new chance to give the Tiger to survive specially in these devastating times towards nature and wild life which continuous declining each passing day. With the help of non profit organizations there is still a chance of survival to prevent the extinction of the wild Tigers. A Global Campaign sponsored by World Wildlife Fund and Leonardo DiCaprio called Save Tigers Now is expected to double the numbers of Tigers in the wild as of 2022 .
